Connecting your Prezi Design charts and maps to online databases

If you're storing data on an online database, you can connect your Prezi Design chart or map to it directly to visualize real-time data with live updates. It's possible to connect to MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Paid feature: The option to connect to databases is available for users with a Premium Prezi plan. Luckily it's a breeze to upgrade your license and get access to this and all the other great features our Prezi plans have to offer.

Connecting to a database

  1. Open the datasheet by double-clicking on the chart/map or by clicking on the chart/map and expanding the Edit data tab in the top right corner of the page.
  2. To connect to a database, click on the database icon above the datasheet.
  3. In the dropdown menu, pick the database you want to connect to.
  4. Fill out the form:
    • Hostname(URI) or IP: If you want to make sure this integration is secure, you can restrict access to these IP addresses: 54.205.187.192, 52.3.140.213, 3.224.121.183. We will connect to your database from one of these addresses, so make sure they are whitelisted.
    • Port number
    • Database name
    • Username
    • Password
    • If your database supports SSL connections, we suggest you check the SSL checkbox in the app for that database. We recommend that you use this setting to make sure the data is not transmitted in plain-text.
  5. Click Update for the information to load.

Now, when introducing changes in the database, they will automatically appear in the chart or map you've connected it to. The information is updated approx. every 10 minutes; if you'd like for the information to update quicker within the Prezi Design editor, click Reload at the top of the datasheet.
