Use Infographics to create a virtual background for your next video conference. You can create static backgrounds and download them as image files or use videos and animations to create moving virtual backgrounds. Follow the steps below to learn how.
Setting the size of your project
- From the Prezi Design dashboard, select Start from template at the top of the page.
- Create a new project by selecting Create custom size in the left-side panel.
- Type in the width and height in pixels, make sure the size matches your camera's aspect ratio (for example, 1920 by 1080 pixels if your camera is set to 16:9).
- To start working on the virtual background, select Create design.
Adding and editing content
Adding content
New content can be added from the toolbar on the left side of the editor. Just hover over one of the icons and select what you'd like to use. For example, to add a video cover, select Add graphics, then pick Video covers and use the search bar at the top to look for something specific. Then, hover over the video cover and click Insert or drag and drop it onto the canvas.
Uploading your own images and videos
You can use your own visual assets when creating a virtual background:
- Select Add graphics in the left-side toolbar.
- Choose Upload an image or video at the top.
- You can then upload JPG, PNG, SVG, and GIF files, as well as MP4 videos.
Editing content
To edit an item you've added to the canvas, select it by clicking on it and make the adjustments in the settings panel on the right. For example, you can select an image, then crop it or mask it, as well as use a filter and remove the background of the image.
Adding animations to the content
If you're looking to add some movement to your virtual background, you can animate every object you've added to the canvas. Here's how:
- Select an item on the canvas by clicking on it.
- Then, choose Add animation in the settings panel on the right.
- Pick one of the animations by clicking on its thumbnail. You'll get a preview of the animation when hovering over the thumbnail.
- You can then set the animation duration and add a delay to it if you'd like to. It's also possible to adjust the distance for some of the entrance and exit animations.
- From the Play: dropdown, select whether the animation will play once when visible, always, on scroll into view, or on click.

Downloading your virtual background
Once you're done working on your content in the editor, it's time to download your virtual background.
- Click the Download icon in the top right corner of the editor.
- If you're looking to create a static background, pick the PNG or JPG option at the top of the page. However, if you have some animations or you're using a video, select the MP4 format.
- Adjust the final settings in the panel on the right.
- Select Download to save the virtual background on your computer.
