How do I start recording in the Prezi desktop app?
You can start recording from two places in the Prezi desktop app:
- From the Dashboard: Hover over your presentation thumbnail and click the video icon.
- From the Editor: Click Present in the top-right corner, then choose Record.
Both options open the Prezi recording studio, where you’ll set up your microphone, camera, and recording mode.

What should I do before recording my Prezi video?
In the Prezi recording studio:
- Click the menu (☰) in the top-left corner to show or hide presenter notes and next slides.
- Choose your recording style:
- Narration: Record your voice only.
- Cameo: Appear on screen next to your presentation.
Select and allow access to your chosen microphone and also camera if you’re recording with Cameo.
Before recording your video, you can rehearse and preview your content by using the arrows in the top panel or in the bottom.
If you need to change anything in your presentation, you can click Go to Editor on the top right corner.
How do I record my Prezi presentation as a video?
When recording a presentation in Prezi, you can guide your audience through your story in real time.
To record:
- If using Cameo, position yourself on the canvas where you want to appear.
- Click the Start recording button. A short countdown appears.
- Use the arrow keys or on-screen arrows to move through your presentation. You’ll see a preview of upcoming frames next to your presenter notes.
- You can move your Cameo to a different spot on the canvas at any time during the recording.
- Click Pause or Resume anytime.
- When finished, click End recording.
Note: External YouTube videos cannot be played during recording due to copyright restrictions.
How do I edit and save my video?
After recording, Prezi lets you preview and fine-tune your video before saving it.
- Trim the start or end of your video.
- Click Save video, give it a name, and choose a save location on your computer.
- Select the desired video quality:
