How to use Prezi Present for creating a video

Here’s everything you need to know about creating a Prezi presentation designed to bring you into the story, then turning it into a video or presenting it live with Prezi Video.

Creating a new video presentation

While the Prezi Video editor makes it easy to create and record videos with a simple structure, if you want more creative freedom, you can design a fully customized, zooming Prezi presentation and then turn it into a video in just a few clicks.

1. From your Prezi Video dashboard, click on Create Video Presentation

2. Type “video” in the search bar and pick one of the video templates featuring an avatar. These templates are designed specifically for video recording, with all default content arranged so you remain visible on screen while presenting.

Note: You can also start with a traditional presentation template, but you’ll need to manually adjust the layout for video use, or record a voiceover instead. Learn how to create a video with narration here or learn how to use Cameo instead with the Prezi desktop app here.

3. Once you find a template, use the left and right arrows to preview its content and style. Click Use this template or close the window to select a different one.

Editing, adding and adjusting content

1. You’ll be redirected to the Prezi Present editor with the Prezi Video sidebar open. From here, you can allow camera access to preview how your video will look as you add content. If you prefer, you can freeze or turn off the camera for now and close the sidebar to focus on editing your presentation.

2. You can use the editor with all its functions exactly the same way you would create a regular Prezi presentation. You can add, delete, rearrange frames, customize the color scheme or add any kind of content, such as text, images, icons and shapes to your presentation.

Note: The pre-designed video templates come with a plain background that is removed when you allow camera access, putting you on the screen next to your content.

3. If you are using a template not specifically designed for videos, you might need to rearrange objects on your canvas so nothing covers you while presenting.

4. Once your presentation is ready, click Present and Record as a video to turn the camera back on. Go through your presentation a few times to practice and to make sure that your content is in the right place and nothing covers your face on-screen.

Note that even though it was created from your Prezi Video dashboard, your work is saved to your Prezi Present dashboard as it is technically a presentation before you turn it into a video.

You can also save your presentation and import it to the Prezi Video app to go live or to record longer videos without a time limit and in full HD. To present live in a video call with Prezi Video, please check this article.
