Creating and sending a video with Prezi Video for Microsoft Teams

If an image is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a thousand images. By using Prezi Video for Microsoft Teams, you can easily create and share engaging video updates for your company and classroom. Add the Prezi Video app to your Microsoft Teams account and start recording and posting classroom or company updates, study guides, trainings, and personal messages. Say more, show more and get more done by making your messages more effective.

Installing Prezi Video for Microsoft Teams

1. Log in to your Microsoft Teams account online or on the Microsoft Teams desktop app. 

2. Click the App Center icon in the left sidebar, then write Prezi Video in the search bar on the left.

Note: Prezi video works with the Microsoft Teams desktop app for Mac and Windows, and with the latest version of Google Chrome and Edge. Please use Chrome or Edge when logging into your Microsoft Teams account online.

3. Install the Prezi Video app from the Microsoft Teams app store by simply clicking on the Prezi Video thumbnail, then on Add.

Once you do so, you will see the Prezi Video integration available under all your chats and group messages.

Creating and recording a video

Note: If you don't already have a Prezi account, please sign up so you can create and record videos in Microsoft Teams.

Note: When opening the Prezi Video editor, you might need to click on the Prezi Video icon in the top left corner to make the window with the previously recorded videos disappear before you start creating your video.

Click on the Prezi Video icon under a chat window, then click the plus icon (+) in the top right corner and go to Create new video. Log in to your Prezi account or choose Sign up to create an account.

After logging in, you will see the video editor load and your camera activated.

Note: Make sure that Microsoft Teams can access your default camera in the browser settings (when using Microsoft Teams online) and go to Manage account > App permissions > Prezi Video to give permission to the app to access your camera while using Prezi Video.

Selecting a template

Once your camera is enabled, you will see yourself on the screen. Hi! You can then choose from a variety of designer templates to use in your video. By clicking on a template, you can preview it and see how your content will look like next to you on the screen. Once you choose the template you would like to use, click Next step in the bottom right corner.

Adding Content

Add text and one image to your slides to build your video. You can choose images from our free image library, or by uploading one from your computer. If you want to add more slides, just click on the + button at the top of the screen.

Note: There is a limitation of adding one picture (JPEG or PNG format) and 100 characters of text per slide, and a maximum of 15 slides per video.

Recording your video

Once you’re done with adding your content, click Next step in the bottom right corner and get ready to record your video. Take a deep breath and hit the red button to begin. 

Use the three icons at the bottom left to switch between different camera views (only you on the screen, you and your content, or content only - you can also use the 1, 2 and 3 keys accordingly to switch) and the arrows on the right to move between slides. You can pause your recording any time and resume by clicking the red button in the middle. Your video can be up to 15 minutes long, and you will see a warning at the 14-minute mark. When you’re done, click the red button again to stop recording.

You can then review your video. Don’t worry if you’re not happy with the first (or sixth) take, just click Discard and record again to try as many times as you’d like. Remember: practice is the key to success!

Trimming your video

If there is some unwanted footage at the beginning or end of your video, click the scissor icon in the bottom right corner to trim off any unwanted footage.

Final touches

Congrats, your video is done! Now just give it a catchy title, a brief description, and add some tags. You can also change the privacy settings of your video here before posting it in Microsoft Teams.

Sharing your video

To post your video to a conversation in Microsoft Teams, click the Post video button. This will add the video to your compose box.

To share a previously recorded video, just click the Prezi Video icon under the chat window. You will see a list of your videos and can post them to another conversation.

To manage your videos (delete, change privacy settings etc.), just use your your online Prezi account
