Using virtual backgrounds in Prezi Video

Take your videos and virtual meetings to the next level by using a virtual background in Prezi Video! Spice up your content by adding a backdrop matching the theme or topic of your virtual presentation, use your company's branded background for business calls or blur your background for a more professional look and privacy. Here's everything you need to know about using virtual backgrounds in Prezi Video.

Adding a virtual background in Prezi Video

Adding a virtual background in Prezi Video allows you to display an image as your background during a live meeting or when recording a video. Depending on the device you are using and whether you are using the desktop application or the online editor, you can use the feature with or without a green screen behind you. Please note that the system requirements are higher for using a virtual background without a green screen.

Virtual Background with a green screen provides the best virtual background effect and uses less system resources while recording or joining a video call with Prezi Video. If you have a solid-colored screen, curtain, or wall behind you, Prezi Video can replace the selected color with the image you choose to display as a background. This method guarantees better sharpness and definition around your face while recording/presenting with a virtual background.

Please note: You cannot apply the blurred background option when using a green screen.

Using virtual backgrounds in the desktop app

The virtual background feature works best with a green screen and uniform lighting that allow Prezi to detect the difference between you and your background, although a physical green screen is not required when using the latest version of the Prezi Video desktop application.

1. With the Prezi Video desktop app open, click the three dots (...) at the top of the sidebar and select Virtual background from the dropdown menu to open the virtual background sidebar.

Can't see the virtual background option? Please check if your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Prezi Video.

2. From the virtual background sidebar, you can choose not to use a virtual background at all (default setting), to blur your background, select a background from our gallery or upload your own visual.

You should know: You can upload virtual backgrounds in PNG or JPG format with a maximum file size of 24 MB.

3. In order to optimize your virtual background, use the toggle to determine whether you have a green screen or not and set its color at the bottom of the sidebar in case, you know, it's not green.

4. Once you're done adding your virtual background, simply click the arrow next to Virtual background on the top of the sidebar to return to adding and editing content, record a video or join a video call.

Using virtual backgrounds in the online editor

Applying a virtual background in the online editor only works when using a green screen. If you do not have a green screen or would like to blur your background, please use the desktop application.

1. With the Prezi Video online editor open, click the three dots (...) at the top of the sidebar and select Virtual background from the dropdown menu to open the virtual background sidebar.
