After you’ve added a map to your design, you can edit its data at any time. Double-click on the map or head over to the Edit data tab in the right-side settings panel to edit the datasheet.
Layout of the spreadsheet
When importing data, be sure to keep the following formatting and layout for the map to visualize your data correctly:
- Column 1 (English title): Country or region for the Area map. City, address, landmark, etc. for the Icon map.
- Column 2 (Value): Numerical data.
- Column 3 (Group): Group entries (this column will be used if you've chosen the Grouped style for your map).
- Column 4 (Coordinates): Automatically populated when Column 1 is filled in. You can also copy-paste your own coordinates.
- Column 5 (Label): Whatever you insert in this column will be displayed in the tooltips when hovering over data points.
- Column 6... (Text): Add additional text for it to appear in the tooltip when hovering over data points.
Add data manually or by copy-pasting
- Open the datasheet by double-clicking on the map or by clicking on the map and expanding the Edit data tab in the top right corner of the page.
- Click on a cell, type in the value you want to display, and tap Enter. The changes will appear instantly. When adding new indicators to the spreadsheet, take into account the layout described above.
- If you'd like to copy-paste data into the datasheet, copy it from the external spreadsheet, and use keyboard controls Cmd + V (Mac) or Ctrl + V (Windows) to paste it in Infographics.
Upload an XLS, XLSX, or CSV file
- Open the datasheet by double-clicking on the map or by clicking on the map and expanding the Edit data tab in the top right corner of the page.
- To import a file, click on the Upload file... button.
- Select the file you want to use and click Open. After uploading the data, you can edit the spreadsheet at any time.
Connect to a Google Drive document
Connect your Google Drive account to Infographics and make use of live data updates—every time you'll introduce changes in the Google Drive spreadsheet, they will automatically appear in your map, including all embeds.
Paid feature: Connecting to a Google Drive document is possible for users with a Plus or higher Prezi plan. Luckily it's a breeze to upgrade your license and get access to this and all the other great features our Prezi plans have to offer.
- Open the datasheet by double-clicking on the map or by clicking on the map and expanding the Edit data tab in the top right corner of the page.
-
Select Add Google Drive document at the top of the datasheet.
☝️Note: When doing this for the first time, you'll have to select the Google account you want to use and allow Infographics to access it.
- Choose the document you want to use and click Select.
If the Google Drive document has several spreadsheets, you can select whether you want to display all of them or only a specific one. Use the dropdown at the top of the datasheet to switch between the spreadsheets.
If you want to, you can disconnect your map from the Google Drive document at any time by clicking Disconnect. The connection will be lost and you'll be able to edit the data table in Infographics.
Connect to a JSON feed
Paid feature: Connecting to a JSON feed is possible for users with a Plus or higher Prezi plan. Luckily it's a breeze to upgrade your license and get access to this and all the other great features our Prezi plans have to offer.
- Open the datasheet by double-clicking on the map or by clicking on the map and expanding the Edit data tab in the top right corner of the page.
- Select Add JSON feed at the top of the datasheet.
- Enter your JSON feed URL in the pop-up window and select Create to load it.
Now, your map will be connected to the JSON feed with the auto-update feature enabled by default. This way, you cannot introduce any changes to the spreadsheet in Infographics, only in your JSON feed.
If you want to, you can disconnect your map from the JSON feed at any time by selecting Disconnect. The connection will be lost and you'll be able to edit the data table in Infographics.
Connect to a database
If you're storing data on an online database, you can connect your Infographics map to it directly to visualize real-time data with live updates. It's possible to connect to MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Paid feature: Data connectors are available for users with a Premium Prezi plan. Luckily it's a breeze to upgrade your license and get access to this and all the other great features our Prezi plans have to offer.
- Open the datasheet by double-clicking on the map or by clicking on the map and expanding the Edit data tab in the top right corner of the page.
- To connect to a database, click on the database icon above the datasheet.
- In the dropdown, pick the database you wish to connect to.
- Fill out the form:
- Hostname(URI) or IP: If you want to make sure this integration is secure, you can restrict access to these IP addresses: 54.205.187.192, 52.3.140.213, 3.224.121.183. We are going to connect to your database from one of these addresses, so make sure they are whitelisted.
- Port number
- Database name
- Username
- Password
- If your database supports SSL connections, we suggest you check the SSL checkbox in the app for that database. We recommend that you use this setting to make sure the data is not transmitted in plain-text.
- Click Update for the information to load.
