Editing map data in Prezi Design

After you’ve added a map to your design, you can edit its dataset at any time. Simply double-click on the map or head over to the Edit data tab in the right-side settings panel to edit the datasheet.

Layout of the spreadsheet

Note: Every map is pre-populated with placeholder data for you to see what is the correct formatting.

When importing data, be sure to keep the following formatting and layout for the map to visualize your data correctly:

  • Column 1 (English title): Country or region for the Area map. City, address, landmark, etc. for the Icon map.
  • Column 2 (Value): Numerical data.
  • Column 3 (Group): Group entries (this column will be used if you've chosen the Grouped style for your map).
  • Column 4 (Coordinates): Automatically populated when Column 1 is filled in. You can also copy-paste your own coordinates.
  • Column 5 (Label): Whatever you insert in this column will be displayed in the map tags when hovering over data points.
  • Column 6... (Text): Add additional text for it to appear in the tooltip when hovering over data points.
Note: In Column 4, you can also adjust coordinates manually (this is useful for placing markers when using the Icon map).

Add data manually or by copy-pasting

  1. Open the datasheet by double-clicking on the map or by clicking on the chart and expanding the Edit data tab in the top right corner of the page.
  2. Click on a cell, type in the value you want to display, and hit Enter. The changes will appear instantly. When adding new indicators to the spreadsheet, take into account the layout described above.
  3. If you'd like to copy-paste data into the datasheet, right-click on a cell and choose Paste.

Connect to a database

If you're storing data on a database, you can connect to it directly to visualize the data in Prezi Design. It's possible to connect to MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server databases. We currently offer one-time imports.

Paid feature: Data connectors are available for users with a Plus or higher Prezi plan. Luckily it's a breeze to upgrade your license and get access to this and all the other great features our Prezi plans have to offer.

  1. Open the datasheet by double-clicking on the chart or by clicking on the chart and expanding the Edit data tab in the top right corner of the page.
  2. To connect to a database, click on the database icon above the datasheet.
  3. In the dropdown, pick the database you wish to connect to.
  4. Fill out the form:
    • Hostname(URI) or IP: If you want to make sure this integration is secure, you can restrict access to these IP addresses: 54.205.187.192, 52.3.140.213, 3.224.121.183. We are going to connect to your database from one of these addresses, so make sure they are whitelisted.
    • Port number
    • Database name
    • Username
    • Password
    • If your database supports SSL connections, we suggest you check the SSL checkbox in the app for that database. We recommend that you use this setting to make sure the data is not transmitted in plain-text.
